Future Developments

The institute's goal is to train and develop financial talents with mathematical, statistical, information, and economic analytic skills. It focuses on giving the students comprehensive knowledge and training in the fields of mathematics, statistics, information and economic theories. Graduates will have a firmer foundation in financial and economic theories as well as knowledge of information applications.

Because professional knowledge is indispensable in the financial service industry, graduates may enter the job market immediately. On the other hand, if the students want to go on to higher studies, they will be more successful, being armed with a firmer foundation in financial theories and mathematics. Aside from training top business people, the institute also hopes to be able to create an outstanding pool of educators and mentors, who will lead the way in educating Taiwan's future financial and economic experts.

Tiao Chin Huan, professor of the University of Chicago and Academia Sinica member, pointed out that present-day economics and finance depend on the theoretical research conducted through quantitative and mathematical analysis. If one lacks a firm foundation in these aspects, then it is very difficult to make progress in the academic world. He believes that in the future, after the students of Tsing Hua's quantitative finance department graduate, they will be welcomed by famous universities in the US and Europe. With a firm academic foundation, these students will make more progress in the field of finance, possibly becoming some of the world's best mentors and players in this field.
